”Is it possible for a Christian to lose salvation?"

No.

Because nothing can separate us from the love of God (Roman 8:35, 38-39) and His love ensures eternal salvation (John 3:16-18a, 1 John 5:13), it is not possible for practicing Christians to ever lose the gift of salvation.

Scripture often speaks of the guarantee of enduring salvation for all believers (Romans 1:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 1:13-14, John 6:37-40; John 10:27-30). Belief is of critical importance to receive this “gift” (Jonah 2:9b, Hebrews 5:9b). For those do not believe or are “double-minded” (James 1:6-8) the outcome is equally clear but not nearly as bright (John 3:36, Jude 4).

How do we receive such a wonderful and eternal gift? Our actions – “works” – are insufficient (Galatians 2:16). We are saved through faith (Galatians 3:6-9, 1 Peter 1:5) and by obeying God’s commands (Hebrews 5:9b, John 14:21). God wants us to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4) and protects true believers from false teachings designed to turn us away from the Lord (Jude 24).

We must receive Jesus (Romans 10:8-10) and accept that He is the way to God, the Father, and everlasting life and salvation (John 14:6, 10-11). Those who reject the Lord are condemned to burn in a fire of eternal flames (Revelation 20:12-15), but those who believe manifest their salvation through Christ-like actions powered by the fruit of the Holy Spirit (James 2:14-24, Galatians 5:22-23).

Through His love, God gave us free will to choose or reject Him (John 12:39, 1 Timothy 2:4, Revelation 3:20), commandments for our joy, spiritual growth, and well-being (John 14:15-17, Revelation 3:19), and, most important, the gift of salvation and eternal life (John 1:12).
